About This Tool
Page numbers are a basic requirement for professional documents — reports, contracts, academic papers, and proposals are expected to carry page numbers so that readers can navigate easily and reference specific sections. When you merge PDFs from different sources or prepare a final version from drafts, the pre-existing page numbers in the individual files rarely align; adding fresh page numbers to the combined document is the cleanest solution.
JustConvert's page number tool lets you choose from six positions (all four corners plus top-centre and bottom-centre), set the starting number to any value (useful for documents that are part of a larger set), and applies clean typeset numbers to every page in one pass. No software or design skills are required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I place the page numbers? expand_more
You can place page numbers at the bottom centre (the most common choice), bottom left, bottom right, top centre, top left, or top right. The position is applied uniformly to every page.
Can I start numbering from a value other than 1? expand_more
Yes. Set the start number to any positive integer. This is useful when the PDF is part of a larger document set — for example, if it is chapter 3 starting at page 45, set the start number to 45.
Are page numbers added to the first page? expand_more
Yes, by default page numbers are added to every page including the first page. If your document has a cover page that should not be numbered, you can remove the cover page, add numbers to the rest, and then merge the cover page back.
What font and size are used for the page numbers? expand_more
JustConvert uses a standard proportional font at a size that is clearly readable but unobtrusive. The numbers are placed within the existing margin area so that the main document content is not obscured.
Can I add page numbers to only some pages? expand_more
The current tool adds page numbers to all pages. If you only need numbers on a subset, split the PDF into the relevant section, add numbers to that section, and merge back with the other pages.
