About This Tool
PNG files use lossless compression and can be several times larger than an equivalent JPEG, which makes them impractical for sharing via email, messaging apps, or uploading to social media. Converting a PNG to JPG produces a much smaller file that opens on every device and in every application without any compatibility concerns.
JustConvert's PNG to JPG converter applies a high-quality compression setting that keeps the image looking sharp while achieving significant file size reductions. Any transparent areas in the PNG are filled with a white background in the output, since the JPEG format does not support transparency. Processing is instant and no files are retained after your download.

When PNG to JPG is the right call
PNG and JPG are good at opposite things, so the decision comes down to what the image contains. Convert to JPG when the image is a photograph or a colourful, detailed picture you need to email, upload, or post — JPG will be several times smaller with no visible loss. Keep PNG when the image is a logo, screenshot, diagram, or anything with sharp text and flat colours, because JPG's compression adds faint smudges around hard edges that PNG avoids. A simple rule of thumb: photos to JPG, graphics stay PNG.
The transparency gotcha
JPG cannot store transparency, so any see-through areas in your PNG have to become a solid colour — this tool fills them with white. That is fine for a photo, but it will put an ugly white box behind a transparent logo. If you need a smaller file and transparency, convert to WebP instead, which keeps the alpha channel while shrinking the file. Reach for JPG only when a flat background is acceptable.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why would I convert PNG to JPG? expand_more
PNG files are lossless and therefore large. When you need to share an image via email, WhatsApp, or upload it to a website, a JPEG version is typically 3–10× smaller, making transfers faster and staying within attachment size limits.
What happens to transparent areas in my PNG? expand_more
JPEG does not support transparency, so any transparent pixels in your PNG will be replaced with a solid white background in the converted JPG. If you need transparency preserved, use PNG-to-WebP or PNG-to-PNG workflows instead.
Will converting PNG to JPG reduce image quality? expand_more
JPEG uses lossy compression, so there is a small quality trade-off. JustConvert uses a high-quality setting that keeps the output visually crisp for photographs and most graphics while still achieving a much smaller file.
Can I choose the JPG quality level? expand_more
The converter uses an optimised quality setting by default. If you need a different level of compression — for example, a very small file for web thumbnails — you can adjust the quality slider before converting.
Is this tool free to use? expand_more
Yes, the PNG to JPG converter is completely free. There are no watermarks, no sign-up requirements, and no limits on the number of conversions for standard file sizes.
