About This Tool

A QR code (Quick Response code) encodes any URL, plain text, phone number, Wi-Fi credentials, or contact card in a machine-readable square matrix that smartphones can scan with their built-in camera — no dedicated app required. Businesses use QR codes on packaging, menus, business cards, presentation slides, and posters to bridge the gap between physical materials and digital content instantly.

JustConvert generates high-resolution QR codes as PNG images up to 1000×1000 pixels. You can choose any foreground and background colour to match your brand identity. The generated QR code is compact enough for business cards yet scales cleanly to hoardings and large print formats without pixelation.

Static codes — what that means for you

This tool creates static QR codes: the content is baked directly into the pattern. That makes them free, permanent, and dependent on no third-party service — they will still scan years from now with no account to keep alive. The trade-off is that the destination cannot be changed later, so if you encode a link, point it at a URL you control and do not plan to delete. For a flyer or product you might re-target later, encode a short link you own (a page that redirects) rather than the final address, so you can change where it goes without reprinting the code.

What you can put in a QR code

A QR code holds far more than a website link. Some of the most useful payloads:

  • A URL — the most common: a site, a Google review page, a menu, or a form.
  • A UPI payment stringupi://pay?pa=name@bank&pn=Name opens the user's payment app pre-filled.
  • Wi-Fi credentialsWIFI:T:WPA;S:NetworkName;P:password;; joins guests to your network without typing.
  • Contact details (vCard) — saves your name, phone, and email straight into a phone's contacts.
  • Plain text, a phone number, or an email — for notes, quick calls, or pre-filled messages.

Designing a code that actually scans

Most failed scans come from a few avoidable mistakes. Keep strong contrast — a dark pattern on a light background scans far more reliably than the reverse or two similar tones. Leave the quiet zone, the blank margin around the code, intact; cropping right to the edge breaks scanning. Size it for the distance: at least about 2 cm square for a hand-held card, much larger for a poster read from across a room. And always test the finished code with two or three different phones before printing a thousand copies.

Frequently Asked Questions

What information can I encode in a QR code? expand_more

You can encode any plain text or URL. Common uses include website links, contact details (vCard format), phone numbers, email addresses, SMS pre-fills, Wi-Fi network credentials, payment UPI IDs, and Google Maps locations. Simply type or paste the content into the input field.

How do I scan a QR code? expand_more

On iPhone (iOS 11+) and most Android phones (Android 9+), open the built-in Camera app and point it at the QR code. A notification will appear with the encoded link or action. No separate QR scanner app is needed on modern smartphones.

What size should I generate the QR code at? expand_more

For business cards and small prints, 300×300 pixels is sufficient. For posters and banners, use 600×600 or higher. As a rule, the QR code should be at least 2×2 cm (about 0.8 inches) when printed for reliable scanning from a normal distance.

Can I use custom colours in my QR code? expand_more

Yes. Choose any foreground (module) colour and background colour using the colour pickers. Ensure there is strong contrast between the foreground and background — a light background with a dark foreground always scans most reliably.

Do QR codes generated with this tool expire? expand_more

No. QR codes generated by JustConvert are static — the encoded content is baked directly into the image. They never expire and do not require an active account or subscription to keep working. Note that if you encode a URL, the QR code will stop working if you later take down that URL.
